Happy Pistachio Day!

February 26th is National Pistachio Day! The nuts grow on small bushy trees native to the Middle East. Pistachios grow in bunches similar to grapes. Humans have been eating pistachios for more than 9,000 years.  They are know as the "smiling nut" in Iran and "the happy nut" in China.  It is only one of two nuts mentioned in the Bible.

There are many health benefits with pistachios including:
  • Lowers cholesterol
  • Rich in antioxidants which eliminates toxins from the body
  • Diabetes Type 2 prevention...

Ground Hog Day 20th Anniversary

Last Saturday I traveled 50 miles to Woodstock, IL to see if Woodstock Willie (the ground hog) saw his shadow. He did not see it, so there is only 6 more weeks of winter!  About a thousand people turned out to learn what Woodstock Willie would predict.

Since the movie Ground Hog Day was filmed there 20 years ago, the city has created a 5 day event to celebrate the movie. At various locations around the town square there are plaques that memorialize specific scenes from the movie.  I saw a numb...

Amazing and Inspirational

I attended a magic convention this past weekend.  I've been attending this convention with my best friend since 1994.  During those years I've seen a lot of tremendous magic.  But this year I witness something beyond magic.  Mahdi Gilbert is a young man from Canada. Yes, he is a magician but his ability transcends magic to true inspiration.  Mahdi has significant physical challenges.  He was born with severe birth defects, including not having any hands.
